Unexpected adventure in Dubai!

 

~Desert, sand and palpitations~

Dubai’s beauty had enchanted me for-evergreen with its modernized development and luxury. The streets and buildings looked like as if I was walking on a film set, unrealistically real. I have to say that when I think of Dubai, the first image that pops up has to be the lustrous gold sand deserts. What better way to visualize than experience it, which I did on a faithful typical sunny day in the scorching heat of Dubai.

 

Quick tip, never ever be late for your booked taxi in Dubai because they will leave you for your tardiness, which me and my family witnessed happening to one of the other passenger in our tourist traveller. I still wonder what they did after that… Moving on, we arrived at our location which was a magnificent open desert with tents on one side where people could book their slots for desert safari. As we waited for our turns, there was an eagle caretaker which allured our attention and we all wore a glove as the world’s most graceful bird of prey tenaciously stood still on our protected hand. I could feel its spiky claws and sharp nails gripping tightly against the glove. 

When our turn finally came, we were greeted by our chauffeur who wore a proper white Arabian attire and had a bubbly personality. Camaraderie would be the word to describe his and my father’s bond even though they just met, boys am I right. He asked us to fasten our seat belts and get ready for the adventure. My naïve self was so oblivious to the situation that I wasn’t even prepare to handle what was about to happen. My mind quickly changed from observing the beautiful patterns and marks in the glistening sand to panicking as though I felt like I was trapped in an enclosed roller coaster ride with unexpected turns and falls. The chauffeur was going over 100 km/h in the empty desert! Sand beneath us squiggled down as we sprinted and drifted. The sand dunes were approached as if one speed runs over a speed bump and potholes. I was in a disbelief as to how a serene peaceful day has become into a rock-hard adventure ride! My heart palpitated as to I had fallen down from an airplane without a parachute. However, as the journey continued, I started to get a hang of it and began to enjoy and laugh. I felt like I was in an action film, redefining the law of gravity. Dubai has unexpectedly become a movie set for this drama queen. 

That was not the end as we later explored the desert and removed the sand from our clothes and shoes after we rode quad bike in the sand pit arena created in the desert. I unfortunately got a speeding ticket and a scolding for driving too fast; looks like I am not getting my driver's license soon. The day finally came to an end by the third highlight of the trip, an enigmatic belly dancing perform in the middle of the desert as food was catered encircling it. 

Imbibing all this adventure created numerous memories but consumed a lot of energy, so I swift scooped in the bed as we reached our hotel. This was anomaly from my prejudice about the country as I never though Dubai captured such great adventures, but I guess you never know unless you experience it.
